The San Joaquin Psychotherapy Center, Inc. is a nationally renowned treatment facility that emphasizes a philosophy, not a technique.

All human beings are prone to grow emotionally, socially, and spiritually throughout life if their humanity is not violated. SJPC is the only program of its kind that is dedicated to and specializes in drug free treatment. Therapists at SJPC are committed to respecting the dignity and autonomy of the person above all other concers. Healing with SJPC doe snot include dehumanizing technologies that demean us and trivialize what it is to be human and special.

Human beings are innately designed to healing fromt heir suffering; even grow from it. But the source of healing is not found ind rugs and electric shock or surgery or ther other trappings of biopsychiatry. These things dehumanize us. Instead of techniques and technologies that further impair our humanity, the sources of healnig must be sought in the things that make us human. These things include literature, art, music, laughter, play, community and of course, basic human compassion. We must seek always to struggle productively with our suffering, expanding, deepening, expressing and sharing our humanity.
