Organic FoodWisconsin Cattleana Ranch offers pasture-finished Galloway
beef and free-range chickens. The beef is processed through a state-certified,
family-run butcher shop. "You will always know where your beef has
been raised and processed." The chickens are available on a seasonal
basis. Orders of six birds and more must be placed by June 15. Pick-up
is in mid-summer and early fall. The beef is packaged in a variety of
20-pound boxes. For example, the "Executive Box" contains T-bone,
Porterhouse, rib eye, sirloin, and cube stakes, plus one rolled rump roast.
The "Grill Pack" has sirloin and cube steaks plus hamburger,
homemade wieners, and summer sausage. Northstar Bison is a family owned and operated
business that encompasses several hundred acres near the Blue Hills of
northwestern Wisconsin. Their premium, grassfed bison include breeding
stock from nationally recognized sources. All cuts, from burger to tenderloin,
including convenience foods, are available at the store on their ranch.
Shipping is available year round. Scenic tours can be arranged. Northstar
Bison, Four Winds Farm offers pasture raised beef,
pork, and chicken. The cattle graze on grass-legume pastures in the summer
and standing corn and hay in the winter. Chickens are raised seasonally
on pasture. Pork and beef are available by the quarter or by individual
cuts. Other products include all-beef hot dogs, wood-smoked summer sausage,
beef jerky, ground beef patties, and other pork products. The food is
available at the farm and at the food co-op in River Falls. Interstate
shipping to be available soon. Farm tours available by appointment. Saxon Homestead Farm has 350 pastured dairy
cows producing milk and 70 bison. This fifth generation farm has transitioned
in the past 20 years from a "conventional concrete dairy" to
900 acres of grassland. The owners are half way through the organic certification
process. Plans for making farmstead cheese and selling their bison meat
and cheese at their own farm store is in the works. Call for current product
information. Snowy Fields Farm is a family enterprise that
offers a wide variety of products. All of their animals are raised humanely
without synthetic hormones, antibiotics or "anything you can't pronounce."
The beef comes from dairy steers that are a minimum of two years of age.
In addition to pasture, the animals are fed small amounts of hay and whole
grains. The lambs are Jacob and Jacob crosses-rare breeds that "produce
excellent quality meat." The veal comes from calves hand-raised on
milk from their cows. Pork comes from Tamworth pigs "when available."
Chevron (young goat) is a new addition. Free-range chickens are available
one to three times a year. Beef, lamb, pork, and veal are sold by the
whole or halves. Beef can be sold by quarters "provided you can find
someone to share the other quarter."
