Satchitanandaji - Spiritual Poet and Saint from India
This mahatma was born in 1860 in Hathras near Aligarh in Northern India. He became a great devotee of Krishna in his early years and studied Vedanta. On the death of his Guru he embraced monasticism, taking the name of Satchitanandaji. He died in 1950.
Since I was united with my real Self, my joy is beyond description.
The world of dreams has gone - I alone exist.
He whom they call God, I have seen in mine own Self.
I am one, there is no duality; in fact there is neither Self nor God.
He, to meet whom they visit Mecca and Kashi, I see everywhere - there is no veil.
The ego is the veil between God and the soul, The mountain is hidden by a straw.
Since my Guru showered his grace on me, The secret has been revealed.
Illusion is dispelled, no doubts remain; I have negated name and form, What remains is Existence, Consciousness and Bliss, nothing else.
All delusion is forgotten, all is bliss!
See the world superimposed phenomenally on Brahman;
Recognize the difference between the substratum
And that which is superimposed on it; Thus has the great sage declared!
O friend, see in the Self two powers, activity and rest;
Activity gives rise to the world, In rest there is neither name nor form.
There is only one Consciousness,
My holy Guru has revealed it to me.
Birth and death are caused by activity;
In their absence there is nothing to give, nothing to take.
I have experienced this state; it is neither dual nor non-dual.
The mind cannot comprehend it.
O friend, here speech itself becomes silence! |
